This is in relation to Cebuanos‘ concern in regard to Coach Banal’s sort of “game plan” for the ACES. The team has four losses so far, and only Pasculado can’t be a part of these tragic losses. Why? Because he didn’t play and for all I know, we ain’t be playin.
Cebuanos’ support have been shown for a couple of times. Sheryn Regis almost won against Eric Santos due to judges’ decisions. If the votes really have a huge weight, she could’ve won the million and gotten what Eric is enjoying until now. Gladly, Kim Chiu, had the chance to be a winner, and it was because of the number of text votes. They say that Gloria won because of the number of votes she got from the Cebuanos. You see, Cebuanos do support, and we support this much because we have seen a lot of times, heard a lot times, that Tagalogs underestimate us. Manila and Cebu are like New York and Chicago, if you know what I mean.
Another Cebuano is trying to create his name in the court. Cebuanos are excited to have another Hontiveros or maybe a better one. We have been waiting to see how he holds his ball and shoot it, but he has been deprived from showing his skills to the world. Cebu recently had Krispy Kremes, and I heard some people, while standing in line, talking about Pasculado. Whenever I go for a break, I can hear some people still talking about it. We all feel the same, and that is discrimination. Here’s a sad possibility: after a few losses, after being demotivated, and maybe after this plea to let Pasculado play, the coach will let him. There is a huge chance that Pasculado couldn’t get the ideal points because he has been insulted and being a bench warmer for a few games can be ridiculing. Finally, the coach can say his spiel, ” eh wala pa lang binatbat tong parati nyong pinapalaro eh.”
I don’t know if all Cebuanos felt the way I did. I had several experiences with Tagalogs, and they usually aren’t comfortable seeing me as better than them. They always see me as their adversary. What do you think?
Very well said! I am not a cebuano, but you are right. I want to see pasculado play. I don’t know him, actually, but the rookie camp is the living proof that this guy is good. Sana lang mabigyan ng playing time para maipakita nya sa lahat kung ano ang meron sya… at kung wala tlga sya maibubuga o maitutulong sa team (which I doubt), then wag nyo (coaching staff) na sya paglaruin.
thanks, yancy. everybody deserves the chance to show what he is made of.
You have a point, actually the last game against RoS, every player in the alaska bench played and I expect Pascualado to play too especially in the last few minutes of the game were it was garbage time but since Coaches or coach banal is the head of alaska he knows better than we do for sure, We haven’t even seen pascualado on flesh right? but I still feel what you feel, I’m eager to see Pascualado play too due to all the things I’ve heard and read, but for sure Alaska coaching staff knows way more better than us. anyways do you think the Maasinhon who won the 3rd Pgt got to do with the Cebuanos?even if they were from leyte? If you know what Im saying. hehe. just kidding More power to us And SUPPORT, TRUST and BELIEVE is all we can do. right? =)
thanks, niz, for commenting. maasinhon is still from the visayas, and tagalogs still call leyte a province same as how most of the tagalogs call and treat cebu. honestly, i don’t know anything pgt.
yes, the coaches know better than we do, and you have a point. it’s the same thing as telling that mothers know best. support, trust, and belief are what we always have for the team, but this is just insane. my boyfriend is a tagalog, and it was even him who ask if banal is discriminating pasculado. just an fyi, i have seen pasculado in flesh. they played in cebu in september, and he was really nice. i have seen his game, and he made 3 points even he only played for 2 minutes. do the math? how many points can he make if he can play longer? i don’t think we need to a coach to think about the answer, right?
Julius just needs playing time so he can gain his confidence and show his talent. He beat Paul Lee in rookie camp scrimmage. He scored 8 pts in 6 mins. and a total of 11 pts. in 16 mins. Paul Lee scored only 6 with a 24 min playing time with a couple of turnovers. Julius had zero TO.
Ysha sorry, But I strongly disagree on what your saying right now, First of all hindi sa pagyayabang but I’m a basketball player and I know how a basketball game works you cannot judge a person or a player talent by just a game, I know a lot of basketball player who are a shooters, athletic, etc but can’t make it to the pba because Basketball is not just like shooting a ball or being quick or jumping high especially in a pro league like PBA, Im not saying na Pascualado is not good for alaska but for sure Coaches have a reason for it, here I give you an example Allen Iverson, He’s a great player, super great, but why do teams in the nba don’t want him anymore? simply because he doesnt like to play the role that they want him to play, so maybe pascualado still can’t fit in the aces system right now, and why do we emphasize the thing about not playing pascualado? do we all think na if he play, aces will win? simple as that? and if aces has a 4-0 record do we still look forward to see pascualado? Im not angry Ysha But let me just put this way, YOU WIN, SOME YOU LOSE SOME. unfortunately for the aces they’re on the lose some right now.
hi niz,
thanks for replying. let me say something about what you have mentioned which is “do we all think na if he play, aces will win? simple as that?”. that’s exactly my point! when banal and his allies decided pasculado not to play, what were they thinking? that pasculado will not help the team win? yeah right…look at them now…no pasculado, no win! im not a basketball player but for sure, i am smart enough to perceive things. iverson is a wrong example by the way…we have seen him play unlike pasculado who we havent seen playing fror ACEs.
Alaska Aces is in the stage of struggling system right now, but let’s just give them some time to cope up their mistakes… No coaching Staff in Basketball are perfect… sometimes you lose sometimes you win! but for sure their making ways to get back thier winning attitude at this moment in time… the only thing alaska players have gone since the departure of cone is moral & winning mentality!

Indeed! I am an Alaska fan since the 90s and i haven’t seen them struggling like this in a conference. I think coach JB wants to play his Atenistas rather rotating his players. When Cablay was injured, I was hoping to see JPas play but Erik Salamat got the playing time. Coach JB should look for options #justsaying
